  • This is the battlefield for the Battle of New Market. It is not large, but it does not take long to understand how the battle went. This is a must for Civil War buffs.

  • One of the lesser known battles of the Civil War, but a site of great importance. The site is inspiring and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. This is the site of the Field of Lost Shoes and the battle where the cadets of the Virginia Military Institute were initiated into what exactly war is and the cost it brings not only to older soldiers but to young students as well. I highly recommend this site to followers of history as well as to followers of the Civil War.
  • Sadly, this is often one of the overlooked battlefields of the Civil War. This is an amazing place to visit. There was a movie made some years ago about the battle here. Movie is called "Field of Shoes." If you're a fan of history, this is definitely a battlefield to check out. It's a great place to bring a picnic, and you can spend all day here. The park itself is free, and the museum is well worth seeing.
