Hidden History Tours Reviews
This was the tour that I needed. I've done the typical New Orleans tour - ghost, swamp, and plantation. I've gone down Bourbon street, ate amazing New Orleans food, went up and down the Mississipi on ... more »
New Orleans is beautiful. Much of it is also romanticized. If you truly love the city, or if you want to gain any amount of respect for the real history of New Orleans, this is it. This is your tour t... more »
The “African Life in the French Quarter” tour by Hidden History Tours was completely awesome, absolutely enriching and a must do if you’re in the Crescent City. The two hour walking tour lead by Mr. Leon Waters opened my eyes in new ways to a city that we have visited several times. I believe this tour is foundational to not only understanding the history of Africans In Louisiana and America but key to informing how we experience American law, commerce and culture to this day. Our guide Mr Leon was prepared, engaged and passionate about ensuring that we understood the city’s history and the context of how things came together. Be prepared to see and understand the impact of Moorish Architecture, the role of religion along with the Catholic Church, the economy and politics of New Orleans past. Great tour!!
Today I took the most wonderful tour with Mr. Walter Leon, "African Life in the French Quarter." All the reviews are right: this is the best. Mr. Leon was so scholarly, so kind - I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon with him and learned so much. I am only sorry that so many tourists come through New Orleans without taking the opportunity to learn the real history. The struggle of Take Them Down to remove monuments to white supremacy is ongoing, but they have had some important victories. Here's to truth and to universal human liberation. Thanks for everything, Mr. Walter.
