  • I grew up with Carole King. I love her music I love her energy. I had no idea how many song she actually wrote until I saw this play. I was so impressed with the cast and the energy that was throughout the whole night. the story and learning about how she became famous was astonishing. I had no idea the troubles that she went through in her marriage and the partnership and amazing songs that they wrote together. I know every word to her tapestry album and now I understand the emotion and circumstance behind the album. I left feeling just amazing and I think anybody from the 70s who knows this music will love every bit of the story and the music from this play! in my opinion this is a must-see.
  • The Stephen Sondheim Theatre is a nice size. The theatre is a totally underground so when you enter from the street you're at the top of the mezzanine (where I was seated) and have to go down to flights of stairs to the orchestra. Leg room is limited in the mezzanine, but the seats are wide enough that you don't feel like sardines. The play was very enjoyable and gives you much insight into the life of Carole King (nee Klein) and her esrly struggles and triumphs. The performances were amazing and the set a d costume changes were entertaining in their own right. Everyone who has ever heard a Carole King song, and that's pretty much everyone who is alive today, would enjoy the show. I forgot how prolific she was in her early years as a songwriter. So many different groups performed her works but songwriters are often forgotten when we think of a song. We always remember the artists who perform a song, not even thinking that someone else may have written it.
