At Economy Candy, browse through countless aisles stacked with candies both vintage and modern. Opened in the wake of the Great Depression in 1937, this is the oldest candy store in New York City. A triangular yellow sign that says “Proceed with Candy” welcomes you in the front of the store. Check out a large table in the center filled with virtually every sweet from your childhood, including gummy animals, jelly beans, pixie sticks, wax lips, and mega lollipops. An extensive selection of dried fruit, nuts, and halvah is also on display. For a taste of old New York, try a dried apricot coated in chocolate. Comic book lovers will enjoy leafing through a stack of old comic books. The store also sells baseball cards, vintage gumball machines, box tins, board games, and lunchboxes.
