Since 1981 The Lincoln Plaza Cinemas has been home to films by Federico Fellini, Eric Rohmer, Jean-Luc Godard, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Robert Altman, Krzysztof Kieslowski, and Woody Allen, among other internationally famous directors. We are more exited, however, about playing films by new directors, discoveries that make it all worthwhile. To mention a few: Red Sorghum, the first film of Zhang Yimou, My Life As A Dog by Lasse Hallstrom, Yaaba by Idrissa Ouedraogo, Toto The Hero by Jaco Van Dormael, 32 Short Films About Glenn Gould by Francis Girard, Gabbeh by Mohsen Makhmalbaf and more recently, The Dreamlife of Angels by Erick Zonca. Treasures that need a home. Nurturing that is simply not available in large commercial theaters (e.g., we ran Wim Wenders's The Buena Vista Social Club for 26 weeks).Make Lincoln Plaza Cinemas part of your personalized New York City itinerary using our New York City trip planner.
The intermission music in each theater and in the lobby is thoughtfully selected. As well as the turkey, Polish ham, and smoked salmon sandwiches, gingerbread, rugelach and low fat apple muffins. Our main problem is that from time to time we cannot accommodate everybody-- lines and sold out shows, but if you plan ahead there will be a comfortable seat and an excellent movie waiting for you. Please be patient an stay tuned.
Lincoln Plaza Cinemas Reviews
Very cozy theater. It has a southern feel to it. However, its closed down now under renovations is what the sign says for a few months. We will see. Many people suspect it's closed for good.
The woman at concessions told me I had to spend $6 min to use my card. I was getting a $4.50 diet Pepsi. She tells me this AS she's filling it up. After I inform her I'm not getting anything else and I don't have cash, she pours the whole thing out. She WASTED more than $6 of product. I found that hilarious. Otherwise, the theater is okay. Shows great movies but the seats are filthy and the bathrooms smell like an old folks home. But it's close to work and my gym so it's a decent stop afterward... I'll go back.
