The chain's flagship department store, Macy's Herald Square has stood at this site for over 110 years and is listed as a National Historic Landmark. The almost 205,000 sq m (2.2 million sq ft) building was the world’s largest department store from 1924 until 2009. You can browse a variety of sections, including clothing, furniture, and cosmetics from major brands. Choose from a wide variety of dining options, including McDonald's, Korean food, and a British-style gastropub. Make sure to visit the top floors to ride the old-fashioned wooden escalators. If you are a foreign tourist, show your passport at the visitor center for a 10% discount on your purchases. Plan my trip to New York City with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.

In NY I found it difficult to find open stores. Luckily I found exactly what I needed at Macy's and the staff was very helpful and nice more »

I shopped at Macy’s yesterday and was so pleased with how easy it was to get what I needed. Their children’s department is great and they offer a lot of different brands and good sale prices. I needed summer pajamas for 2 boys and found very nice cotton ones with fun designs at affordable prices. The store was also very clean compared to years ago. It was a good experience for me. Pleasantly surprised.

I love Macy's Harold Square. Always have good quality items - trained and often expert staff. It's just a NYC icon and a great place to spend some time shopping. Great basement kitchenware and a nice bar for a burger and beer before stepping back onto the busy streets of midtown. You haven't been to NYC if you haven't experienced this great department store.
