  • Most people visit the other museums on Fifth Avenue (the Met, Guggenheim, etc.) yet this place has terrific exhibits with much variety! Start with the 30 minute film about the history of NYC and finis...  more »
  • I went to this Museum one rainy day, while I was looking for a museum not too cheap, not too big and open Tuesday. I wanted a museum that sort of NYC Classics (MET, Guggenheim...). It's been a very very good surprise! When you love the city of New York, and we're interested in the history, this museum is exciting. It fairly accurately traces the history of the city, political, social, geographic, 1600 to the present day. Drawings, objects and documents of the time come to illustrate the point. I found that everything was interesting. I just think we should master the English language, otherwise you can get em - r. And I would either go with children of less than 12 years.

  • I mean seriously who's going to talk bad about a museum. There are a lot of different exhibits at the Museum of the city of New York. I particularly went to look at the future of the city exhibit located downstairs behind the staircase. It's a very large open area and had a lot of different activities inside. I really enjoyed the space of the Museum of the city of New York. They have an elevator and stairs so everyone is able to move freely about the museum. The one thing I would say about this museum is that if you are in need of an accessible ramp you have to go to the side of the museum as the front entryway to the museum only has stairs. The people who work at the Museum or quite nice though and will help you with anything you need. They also have two different stores, one located when you are going to get your ticket to enter the museum and one located when you're exiting the museum. Get your pockets at both time seems like a pretty good idea. This museum is located closest to the m4 bus
  • I been here a year ago and I enjoyed it then. They have new exhibits that made me glad I came again. The new exhibit on the photography of Stanley Kubrick was the highlight. The one on strong women of NYC was also fun and informational. Great place! Makes me love being a New Yorker even more than I do now.
  • Really interesting museum about the history and how NY was created as a city. Actual information and interactive spaces were the best. In the other hand, so much space dedicated to different movements (women vote, slavery, LGTB community) with little information- much better explained in other museums.
  • Great exhibits and so much history. The history of New York City is one that connects worldwide and thought there was a lot to take in. You will not be disappointed if you attend this multi level museum.I really enjoyed this museum, especially the photos from the late 1800's and early 1900's. Very modern presentation with lots of multimedia supplementing the exhibits.
  • I was so impressed with this museum!!! High quality in EVERYTHING! Especially the incredibly well curated exhibits, each of great depth and breadth, the cafeteria (Amy’s), the gift shop. I highly recommend a visit. Usually I can only tolerate ANY museum for no more than 1 hour or at most 1 1/2 hours. Here we spent 3 hours in bliss. Don’t miss it!!
