Note MoMath closes early (2:30 pm) the first Wednesday of every month. For travelers who use our international travel planner, New York City holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the National Museum of Mathematics and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.
Mathematics illuminates the patterns that abound in our world. The museum’s activities will lead a broad and diverse audience to understand the evolving, creative, human, and aesthetic nature of mathematics.
Accomplishments to date include opening North America's only museum devoted to math and its many connections with nature, art, science, business, music, and everyday life; creating the popular Math Midway exhibition (mathmidway.org), which is currently touring museums throughout the United States; leading math tours in various U.S. cities; the Math Encounters (mathencounters.org) presentation series; delivering programs for students, teachers, and the public to increase appreciation of mathematics; and hosting over 125,000 visitors to date.
Like most museums, MoMath cannot survive on admission revenue alone. If you believe in the mission of the National Museum of Mathematics, please support the institution by becoming a member (momath.org/join) or donor (momath.org/contribute). Thanks!

We spent a good hour or so here. There are loads of hands on activities for the children and adults to try. Lots of staff on hand to help too. This was my 11 year old's favourite thing we did on our t... more »

Highly recommended to anyone remotely interested in math. The museum consists of two floors. Guests enter through its main door to a ticket section. There are several kiosks that dispense ID cards that are tied to one's email address. Guests can scan this card throughout the museum for a personalized experience. The museum feature over 40 unique exhibits or activities and a small conference space that features talks on select dates. Accompanying these exhibits are several touchscreen kiosks that explain the mathematics behind these demonstrations. These explanations come in three versions aimed at different audiences (from kids to math nerds). Additionally, there are employees throughout the exhibits to help explain and upkeep these exhibits. There is a gift shop at the end of the exhibit featuring toys and books that continues the visitors’ exploration of mathematics at home. The staffs were very friendly and the exhibits were interesting to interact with.
We noticed this museum near our hotel and went to check it out. Wasn’t expecting much, but it’s really a great, interactive, engaging museum. My son enjoyed it very much and a quick visit turned into a couple hours of fun.
