Già in aeroporto JFK, l'accoglienza dell'agenzia ... more »I was in NY for the first time from March 2nd to 7th of 2019 with a friend. I started from Bari with Alitalia making stopover in Rome and then direct flight. Already at JFK Airport, the welcome of the agency Opentour was excellent. Despite the expectation of more than 90 minutes to comply with customs operations, the driver stayed there waiting for us and greeted us smiling. Transferred without any problems to the hotel, there immediately, after he contacted us personally a manager of the agency, leaving us his personal telephone number with availability H24. All of course in the Italian language, although she was of Cuban descent. Soon after we were free to travel around the city and go to dinner alone. The next morning, Punctualissimo, a courteous driver and an Italian guide prepared and very kind named Daniela (who then discover to be a graduate in architecture) has brought us to discover the north of Manhattan and Harlem, until the famous theater Apollo who has christening sacred monsters of music such as Michael Jackson, Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklyn. Then, a "divine" emotion in participating in a true Baptist mass with the traditional Gospel choir (not like the ones we usually see on TV) that made us immerse in the real life of African Americans. First we had also visited Columbia University and St. John's Cathedral. At the end of the mass, race on a boat to go to Ellis Island for lunch and visit the famous Statue of Liberty. Daniela was an exceptional guide, nice, helpful, prepared and ready to answer all our curiosity. Thanks to you and to all those who do this job not to earn but, for the desire to do it and that make you love what you see for the first time through their eyes that never cease to wonder. In the evening at dinner, the Bubba Gump (in Time Square) accompanied another wonderful guide: Andrea Priorelli. A boy not only prepared and very nice but also with more degrees and specializations and a personal story that took so much in the story, so much to amaze us, better than a Hollywood movie. He created an immediate feeling with him. It seemed we had known each other for years and it was a wonderful evening. We would have rebutted him days later. He also goes our thanks for making us feel comfortable and for telling us unpublished stories about NY and letting us discover enchanted places. The next day the other guide very smart and above all very multitasking (guide, cinema expert, photographer, Cook, navigator, connoisseur of languages and strange dialects, father of 5 children scattered around the world:-)): Sergio Crivellari. A man, a guarantee, we would say in Italy! Very nice, an inexhaustible source of news of all kinds. He knows everything about movies. He knows the homes of all American celebrities and takes you to discover the places where a lot of movies have been filmed or, as you walk along the streets of NY, you see where the sets are and how you can spot them. You take professional photographs with the right light and from the correct point of view. All in a very pleasant...
Ford transit vehicle used was totally unfit for purpose with passengers ranging from 14 to 87 years of age. Vehicle had no step, making entry and exit difficult for those who had mobility issues, and driver had to go looking for a plastic box to use as a step. Guide only mentioned movies made at various iconic buildings, not anything worthy abouth them as we sped by, and buildings were only important to her based on which movie stars lived there. Viewing from inside the vehicle was minimal.
I edited my review after speaking with Open tours - Igor is lovely, cleared everything up and even offered me a free tour. My prior negative review will be transferred to Valey Tours! Apogloies to Open Tours.
