The Town Hall, New York City

3.8

The Town Hall is a performance space, located at 123 West 43rd Street, between Sixth Avenue and Broadway, in midtown Manhattan New York City. It opened on January 12, 1921, and seats approximately 1,500 people.

In the 1930s, the first public-affairs media programming originated there with the America's Town Meeting of the Air radio programs. In recognition of this the National Park Service placed the building on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012, and designated it a National Historic Landmark in 2013.

  • Interesting venue just off Times Square the building itself is a bit bland and the interior could do with a face lift.  more »
  • This is a historic theater that's small and intimate for a show. Comfortable seats (more leg room that the typical Broadway theater).  more »

  • Easy to see right off of 43rd Street servicing Midtown and the adjoining areas of Manhattan. Parking on the Street is available but it fills up fast especially at night and on the weekends. Parking lots are close by. Great for the small venue shows like Gary Valenciano and other performers of his Caliber. Reasonably priced. Moderately clean facilities. Public Restrooms. Credit cards accepted. We will definitely be going back.
  • Saw a Billy Idol concert here the other day. The venue is nice but the seats are pretty narrow! Not a lot of space, especially in the winter if you have your coats and stuff. Overall tho, the acoustics are good and the decor is nice and minimal.
