St. Lucy's Church is a historic church at 19-27 Ruggiero Plaza at the intersection of Seventh Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. It is home to the American National Shrine Of Saint Gerard Majella.

It was built in 1925 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

The church is in the Old First Ward near Branch Brook Park, a historically Italian parish in what was Newark's Little Italy, features an annual October procession and festival for St. Gerard Majella, the patron saint of childbearing, that is heavily attended by the New Jersey Italian diaspora. The October Feast of St. Gerard "became so popular and so widely-known for producing miracle babies for hitherto childless women that in 1977 the National Conference of U.S. Bishops made St. Lucy's the National Shrine of St. Gerard."
The church holds a monthly mass in honor of St. Gerard at which expectant parents and others hoping to become expectant venerate the saint.

  • The beautiful church is worth visiting. It rivals some of the smaller churches I visited in Rome. The painted ceiling and walls will make you think you’re in Italy 🇮🇹.  more »
  • I love all the pictures of my parish St. Lucy's Church. However I do want to point out the there are pictures in here that are not of St. Lucy's but of the Sacred Heart Cathedral. No idea where the confusion was but the wedding pictures outside and others are incorrect. It would be a good idea that whoever posted these pictures remove them and put them in The Sacred Heart Cathedral website where they are from.
  • This church is beautiful! They have new saint statues and the biggest thing there is locally to celebrate St. Gerard. Google the location and drop in, it is a site to be hold. You have to see it for yourself. you're also only fun the street from Sacred Heart Basilica. It's a wonderful piece of art structures.
