Founded in 1929 by Beman and Bertie Dawes, The Arboretum now covers nearly 2,000 acres and includes eight miles of hiking trails and a four-mile Auto Tour. Come see some of our more than 17,000 living plants. Relax in our Japanese Garden. Hike through our Woodlands or Dutch Fork Wetlands. The Dawes Arboretum is a private, non-profit organization. The grounds are open daily, closed only on New Year's, Thanksgiving and Christmas days. Pleasant place to walk on the way to Columbus. We stopped for a place to stretch our legs from the drive between Pittsburgh and Columbus, and found manicured lawns, and lovely gardens. What an asset for the area.
Quiet on the Labor Day weekend. If you are a member of another local arboretum you get in free. Nice place.
