Head to the Wedge for some of the best body surfing in Southern California. Known for its large, wedge-shaped waves, the swell at Newport Beach can reach up to 9 m (30 ft). Other options along this 16.1 km (10 mi) of coastline includ renting a bicycle, fishing, hiking, or sailing. The 4.7 km (2.9 miles) boardwalk features many shopping options and places to have a meal or a drink. You can rent beach chairs, body boards, and other water gear, and lifeguards are on duty throughout the area. Make your way to the fire rings to enjoy some s'mores. • Typical southern California beach town with limited parking and expensive hotels. The ocean side has wide flat sandy beach.

  • Clean beaches and ocean view. Plenty of parking! Affordable as well.
  • I love this long stretch of beach, as it’s seems to be the least crowded of Balboa Peninsula ocean-side beaches. Maybe the residents would like to keep it that way. Maybe the lack of designated public parking lots naturally limits the crowd control, albeit the backup of incoming visitors when a street parking space does become available. Here the views are awesome and the sand seems endless! To the northwest, the more crowded Newport Beach Municipal Beach and Balboa Pier may be visible. Looking southeast, the Newport Harbor Jetty at The Wedge may also be visible. There’s a restroom facility available here and trash containers nicely spaced, helping to prevent littering.
