The Breakers was once the lavish summer home of the powerful Vanderbilt family. Today, the well-maintained property is a National Historic Landmark. You can wander through the two main floors and the kitchen wing of this 70-room, Italian Renaissance-style building. Admire the opulent furnishings and grand architecture designed by Richard Morris Hunt, one of America's most influential architects. Pick up an audio guide for more information about the mansion and the life of America's mega rich at the turn of the 20th century. Be sure to stroll through the grounds and take in the ocean views. Remarkable mansion with details intact. The incredible craftsmanship represents a time in American history that is hard to imagine.

š± what a beautiful mansion. I did the self guided audio tour along. It was very informational and interesting. It took me about 2 hours to do the tour. I got $2 discount for being a AAA member. All staffs were courteous. They donāt allow selfie sticks inside breakers. There is a big parking lot for visitors. You can park there and enjoy both breakers and cliff walk.

Amazingā¦. Of course! Self-guided/paced tour was nice. (I didnāt happen to have earbuds, so had to resort to reading the transcript, but glad the app had that!). Would give 5 stars if it wasnāt quite so priceyā¦. Probably better to buy those combo tickets others have mentioned, but we didnāt plan on seeing more than one of these mansionsā¦. We did a weekday in June, and it was moderately busy but not overly crowded and a very nice experience⦠Iāve visited at least a few mansions, and this really is a well-maintained example of opulence. (Like gold-leaf on huge wall areas applied by hand, such that it looks like leather? Yikesā¦. Iām still trying to understand why āmoreā = ābetterā, but anywayā¦. It truly is amazing.). My favorite room wasnāt even a room at all, it was the covered porch/veranda⦠with that ocean viewā¦. Crazy stunning!
