  • Our son who is into dinosaurs calls this place "mud volcanoes" and he really loved being here. A lot of them were very "active" splashing mud here and there. Come in rainboots so you can clean them.....  more »
  • The mud pots are delightful! They bubble with mud & make disgusting noises. They vent smelly gases. What’s not to love?! This site is something of an open secret & I think future visitors would appreciate it being kept that way. We’re lucky to be able to visit this rare geothermal site. Be cautious and respectful. The mud in the field is deceptively slippery even in parts that seem pretty dry & solid. You have to drive about 2 miles down a dirt farm road so you should be in a vehicle with a decent clearance. You can stop for a moment & marvel at how weird the earth is sometimes & then hop back in & be on your way.
  • Incredible mud-volcanoes, feels otherworldly. A fun place to visit if you're already in the area to see bombay beach, salvation mountain, or the salton sea.
