Create an itinerary including Chrysler Museum of Art
The product of one family's passion for art, Chrysler Museum of Art spans thousands of years of history. Home of Walter P. Chrysler Jr. 's art collection, the museum features 30,000 pieces that give a comprehensive view of the development of art forms over the course of human history. In addition to the main, Neoclassical building, the museum also owns two historic homes downtown. Several tours address a variety of interests, including the elements of art, the ancient world, mythology, and the history and science of glass. You also might find a film screening or lecture here as well. Plan my trip to Norfolk with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.

  • We enjoyed the museum very much. It is well appointed and presented. It was easy to navigate and enjoy the many quality exhibits.

  • We loved our visit! Spent nearly 3 hours exploring every inch of this place. Very well organized and curated. Some really great pieces. Especially loved the double takes placed throughout the museum to give thought provoking comparisons between two separate pieces of art. Friendly staff. Interactive section was so fun! And how amazing that this is a free experience! Parking is plentiful and also free!
  • I could spend days walking around the different exhibits and amazingly, admission is free. I spent most of my time in the glass exhibit which had a beautiful diversity of glass including ancient glass, Tiffany style windows, blown glass and modern artwork glass. Also, there is an exhibit on different sands and how they affect the appearance of the glass. There is a very nice gift store too. Across the street is an affiliated glass studio which has a small but amazing display of pieces make there, multiple artists actively blowing glass and hands on classes.
