The skyway has multiple vistas and overlooks and provides easy vehicular access to various protected and recreational areas. The elevation changes dramatically. You'll find designated picnic areas, hiking trails, and lookout points along the way. Stop by the visitor center and museum before you start your journey to find out the best places to kayak, canoe, camp, and bird-watch. Designed as a scenic highway, this route has few places for cars to pass, so allow one to two hours for the 64.4 km (40 mi) journey.
