We now include all aircraft that have been based and flown from NAS Whidbey Island from 1942 to the present day.Add Pacific Northwest Naval Air Museum to your Oak Harbor travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Oak Harbor trip site.
Beginning with the past and moving through to the present day, young and old alike will enjoy a memorable journey through history at the PBY Memorial Foundation’s PBY-NAVAL AIR MUSEUM ( previously the Naval Heritage Center and Naval History Center) located in Oak Harbor Washington. Excellent history of NAS Whidbey's birth to today. Lots of naval history focused on west coast and aviation. Ship store has many great gifts and items for all ages. Unique hands on exhibits, flight simulators, night vision, and an operational PBY plane. Great place to volunteer.

I took my two boys, ages 9 and 11, to this museum, and they had a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The exhibits were interesting for the kids and for me. The PBY was the highlight, though. A guide walked us through the aircraft and answered all my kids' questions. I certainly didn't drive out there expecting a personalized tour of a WWII aircraft! The whole place exceeded my expectations.
