Create an itinerary including Pacific Northwest Naval Air Museum
Our initial mission was to preserve the PBY and all seaplanes once based at the seaplane facility on Whidbey Island. We now include all aircraft that have been based and flown from NAS Whidbey Island from 1942 to the present day.

Beginning with the past and moving through to the present day, young and old alike will enjoy a memorable journey through history at the PBY Memorial Foundation’s PBY-NAVAL AIR MUSEUM ( previously the Naval Heritage Center and Naval History Center) located in Oak Harbor Washington. From displays dedicated to all wars and conflicts from WWII to today, to impressive artifacts, two flight simulators and more, the PBY-NAVAL AIR MUSEUM promises to educate and entertain!

Do you love history, classic aircraft – maybe both? Come join us! We are looking for more members and volunteers!

  • Stopped in here late in the afternoon and only had a bout 1/2 hour to look at the museum. Girl let me in for $5.00 as a donation. I love aviation so I enjoyed looking at all the PBY things, history...

  • We were there in the fall shoulder season. Not many people were there, and we were lucky to have the personal attention of Sonny Starks, the event coordinator. Our schedule did not allow us to visit....  more

  • Excellent history of NAS Whidbey's birth to today. Lots of naval history focused on west coast and aviation. Ship store has many great gifts and items for all ages. Unique hands on exhibits, flight simulators, night vision, and an operational PBY plane. Great place to volunteer.
  • I took my two boys, ages 9 and 11, to this museum, and they had a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The exhibits were interesting for the kids and for me. The PBY was the highlight, though. A guide walked us through the aircraft and answered all my kids' questions. I certainly didn't drive out there expecting a personalized tour of a WWII aircraft! The whole place exceeded my expectations.
