I spent three hours on the top level, which is devoted to art/artists of California. There was a big variety, all well-curated. I didn't have time for the rest of the museum, but I'll bet I could...

UPDATE: Lunchtime sessions on Saturdays are awesome!! It is such a joy to be outside listening and watching the music/stories/dancing. The people who organize this event have done an amazing job in picking performers who appeal to people of all ages. I don't really even need to check to see what kind of a performance it will be I know I will have a great time! I love coming here on Fridays to see the music and dancing. Picnicking on the lawn and visiting the exhibits with my daughter.
It's an amazing place. The history museum has many physical exhibits and interactive equipment. Can understand history very clearly. The specimens in the nature museum are very lifelike and suitable for children. The roof terrace is very comfortable on a sunshine day. The staff are fantastic. It's just a little expensive for parking. Five bucks an hour. In general, places worth go with your family.
