The famous Ocean City pier, located at the southern end of the Boardwalk, has become an iconic focal point of OCMD over the past century. Rooted deeply in Ocean City’s history, the pier has served as a home for entertainment, games, amusement park rides, and even the town’s first miniature golf course! Today, the pier is home to Jolly Roger’s® Pier Rides, including the two-level Carousel, the adrenaline pumping Slingshot, the iconic Ferris Wheel, and more! Millions of beachgoers have made lasting memories at the pier over the last century, memories that have helped to secure Ocean City as the premier East Coast vacation destination for families.

The pier was originally built in 1907, but on a much smaller scale at about half the length of the existing pier. Sadly, in 1925 during the great fire of Christmas Eve, the entire structure (including the pier and the building) burned to the ground. The town was quick to spring to action, rebuilding the pier in 1926, along with the larger two story building as the anchor structure. Throughout the 1920s, 30s and 40s, the pier served as the social hub of Ocean City, with a ballroom, bowling alley, and even an ice skating rink! National recording acts such as Duke Ellington performed for visitors along the pier.

By the 1950s and 1960s, the pier began to feature amusement rides and games, laying the foundation for the future of the pier as a major amusement destination in Ocean City. The pier was even home to Ocean City’s first miniature golf course, which was built in 1964.

Today the pier is a lasting symbol of Ocean City fun, with amusement park rides, games, fishing, and entertainment. And let’s not forget about the iconic businesses housed in the pier’s building, including Thrasher’s French Fries and Ripley’s Believe it or Not. Visit us at the Jolly Roger® Pier today and start making your own lifetime memories.

Jolly Roger Amusement Park® has rides and games the whole family can enjoy. And as always, there is never a charge to just relax and stroll through Ocean City’s only full-service Family Amusement Facility.

  • Jolly Roger's is the home of the infamous sling shot and has great rides on the pier. We really enjoyed our time here. The wristbands are worth it. Especially if you plan on riding multiple rides or your favorite ride multiple times. They're $40 for the whole day. So, that's a really good price for the amount of rides.
  • All right, I will admit that this is not the biggest or best rides but location really matters. When you go up in that ferris wheel and you can look down the boardwalk it's pretty cool. I do suggest getting the pass whether it is for the afternoon or the evening. It's the best deal. I would suggest the evening because the lights just make it better.
