California Surf Museum Reviews
We were in Oceanside for the U.S. Adaptive Surfing Championship. They mentioned the California Surf Museum many times over the course of the surfing event. We walked past the museum many times to and ... more »
Pretty cool museum. All kinds of boards and tidbits of info to get lost in. Nice to see the interest in currating the stories it takes to tell the story. more »
This was a great experience. We live in Oceanside and are San Diego natives. I've been using Trip Advisor to find fun things to do with my son during his 3 week winter break from school and our visit to the surf museum was awesome! There's so much to look at and learn about. My son (6 years old) was really excited to be able to see Bethany Hamilton's actual board the shark bit since he had just seen it in a book at school. It is very inexpensive admission (under 12 is free adults are $5) and well well worth it. The surf board evolution display was my favorite part. The volunteer who gave us a brief tour was awesome and I wish he would have accepted my tip but he does this for his love of surfing. The gift shop had affordable items and I was able to walk out spending $10. My son got 5 post cards, a sea shell souvenir and a surfboard keychain. It's a quick trip with kids but there's so much to read and see that you can also spend a half day too. If I was there by myself I would have take more time. Awesome displays and authentic pieces to see. Highly recommend stopping by. Even locals.
Great place. I learned alot about the surf culture. Worth a visit.
