At the 650 sq m (7,000 sq ft) SKELETONS: Museum of Osteology, you'll observe natural body motions and learn about the functions of different parts of the skeleton. Here the bones of about 300 animals are preserved, from tiny mice to a 12 m (40 ft) humpback whale. See giraffes, elephants, and marsupials, as well as different reptiles, birds, and primates. You'll discover how organisms change in order to become better suited to their habitats and also be able to compare the anatomy of vertebrate species, which suggest that we all have one common ancestor. At an exhibit of pathologies, find out about forensic ways to determine causes of death. SKELETONS: Museum of Osteology Reviews
They had a massive amount of skeletons, and some extinct things! There were fun scavenger hunt pages to do based on your age range. The gift shop was also super nice. more »
This place was super fascinating!! Have to be honest when we pulled up and saw the size of the building we were a little reluctant. Never judge a book by its cover! This place is certainly tiny but... more »
This museum is smaller than I expected, but my boyfriend and I loved it! Truly fascinating that almost every skeleton in the place is real, and it was definitely interesting to see the skeletal structures of so many different animals, as well as the skulls of different human races! Some of the animal skeletons on display include various felines, dogs, birds, monkeys, and there are even a couple whale skeletons suspended in the air! Go check this museum out for yourself; you will not be let down!
World class! This off the beaten path museum is an internationally recognized treasure making it a destination unto itself. This is no "roadside curiosity" but a full museum full of rare specimens impeccably displayed and curated. Delightfully modern and professionally staffed, this is worth the drive, and a minimum of half a day to enjoy. You will be amazed from the moment you step in. Check it out!
