Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Old Bethpage

You get transported back in time and see how people used to live in authentic 1800's houses from around Long Island. They were transported there among other places such as barns and stores. My family enjoyed the fiddler in the schoolhouse and watching the sheep and goats on the farm. Definitely plan to spend at least 2 hours there because it takes a while to walk through the whole thing and stop to listen to all the interesting employees who tell you the whole story of that house.

Old Bethpage Village Restoration is a hidden gem on Long Island. There are about 10 different buildings from the 19th century, as well as a farm and old time base ball field. The staff and volunteers are great at describing each building and really making the history come alive. For example, some will sing, or play an instrument from the period. It's a great way to step back in time and away from the hustle and bustle of life today on Long Island.
