Carter Caves State Resort Park is located in Carter County, Kentucky, United States, along Tygarts Creek. It is formed by Carter Caves, and nearby Cascade Caves, which were added to the park in 1959. On December 16, 1981, 146 acres (59 ha) of the park were designated as nature preserves. • A quick two day getaway with our dog. We had never taken the dog on a trip before. The dog loved hiking through the woods which we did quite a bit. We also loved the hiking trails.

  • Beautiful place - pristine. Lots of caves to visit for free or small charge. We did Cascade Cave interesting especially where the connecting part of the cave has fallen a d the waterfall worth the small admission price. While there we did the 3/4 mile Box Canyon hike such a cool huge rock formation and squeeze bridge to enjoy. Also did the 1/2 mile natural bridge- that was spectacular!! Great way to spend a day. Much much more to do there if you have more time
  • Beautiful, quiet, and surprisingly affordable. As a working family who tries to be cost conscious as we can be but still strive to have a good time and enjoy ourselves, we found Carter Caves and resort very pleasant and budget friendly. Often gift shops are a tourist trap but this trip, not so much. We ate at their lodge dining room and the food was great and about what I'd expect to pay for fast food. The cabins were comfortable and being in close proximity to other campers, we still felt secluded with a sense of privacy. I highly recommend.
