  • McLoughlin House provides its visitors with an enriching education about Oregon City and Oregon itself. Would definitely recommend visiting this historical home.

  • Interesting historical site in Oregon City, and annex to Fort Vancouver National Historical Site in Vancouver, Washington. The former home of John McLoughlin, Governor of much of the future United States northwest (and western Canada) for England's Hudson's Bay Company, the home is an interesting historical side trip. The docent on hand had a terrific knowledge of McLaughlin, the house, and Hudson's Bay Company history. It is only open for tours on Fridays and Saturdays, and only during the warmer months of the year. (They close the site for the winter, but you can still walk around the outside.) At the time of my visit, I was told they may be closing the house soon so that some restoration work can be carried out. They said the planned work, once started, will take several years to complete. I gave the site four stars because the structure is in desperate need of that renovation. But it was still worth the visit.
  • I really enjoy history, especially of the towns around Portland. We did a city walk with our family . Started at the McLoughlin house and walked Oregon City for four hours. Got Lunch at Singer Cafe and really enjoyed our day.
