  • My new favorite place to hike in the Tucson area, and I feel so happy that I live so close to it too, yet somehow I never checked it out until recently. The lush desert plants made me feel right at home and reminded me of why I moved to the desert in the first place. The trail was much longer than I expected it to be, but the view was so nice I honestly didn't mind. I just know what to expect next time, and there definitely will be a next time. I definitely recommend it as a nice afternoon or evening hike if you want to see the sunset over Tucson, and if you have out of town guests this is a perfect way to introduce them to desert life, with all the plants and animals around you. I honestly feel like this area has better fauna than the national parks around here, and unlike them, this is free! Definitely a win-win in my book!
  • Great desert mountain trail filled with cactus. Most trails are easier to moderate but if you go off the Forest Service trail and try to get to the top it gets a lot more challenging. I found most trails suitable for a trail run as long as you don't mind dodging some rocks. Parking lot is smaller so you may have to street park during busier times.
