  • I have lives on the Monterey Peninsula since 1995 and I’m ashamed to say that today is the first day that I visited. It looks small from the outside; however, there are rooms and rooms of exhibits...

  • I like poking around museums and learning the history of places I stay, I usually just drop in these places when I have a little free time rater than a destination.

  • My family enjoyed the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History! It is most impressive as one of the oldest of its kind in the United States. The museum staff were friendly and greeted us at the door. Admission prices were very reasonable. There are hands-on activities and programs for kids to do throughout the museum, which is great as you generally cannot touch items. My children drew birds, participated in a scavenger hunt, dug for fossils, and counted pollinators. They also have a small gift shop on site for the perfect souvenir. Don't want to spend money in the gift shop? No problem! Head out back to the dig pit and find yourself a fossil to take home! I think the dig pit just might have been the favorite part for my children. We went on a weekday and practically had the place to ourselves for the visit. It was clean and well organized.
  • Beautiful little museum that includes an exhibit on monarch butterfly, California history, and information on native animals. There is an entire room of native birds that was just fascinating. I really enjoyed the exhibit on Native American basket weaving. Good for adults and children with adults that can describe things for them. Children would also really like the electron microscope.
