Whether hanging from the air or suspended on bits of wood, plants in Shelldance's rain forest jungle are alive and growing just as they would in the wilds of a tropical rain forest - a natural ecosystem of living bromeliads, orchids, cactus, ferns, African violets and succulents. Spanish moss fashioned into sea horses hang suspended in the air, while tiny baby tears grow in clusters on the garden floor. Before you head to Pacifica, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Pacifica online tour itinerary planner, to make sure you see all that Pacifica has to offer, including Shelldance Orchid Gardens.
Nancy Victoria Davis describes the nursery as a bit old-fashioned, but that is its charm. You will see things here you may never see elsewhere. There are heirloom orchids, including a cymbidium that has survived four human generations of one family. Or a rare and lovely plum-colored shamrock. Or a spectacular staghorn fern. You are welcome to simply wander and enjoy the sites or make a purchase.
Open to the public on weekends, Shelldance is how expanding its walk-in retail trade, in the Shelldance Gift Shop which includes sales of orchid supplies, incense, pottery, local art, garden enhancements and more.
Shelldance Orchid Gardens reviews
Stopped in here before a Sweeney Ridge hike to view the beautiful flowers and cute gifts throughout. Small gift shop also had a good variety of plant pots and other supplies. more »
What a hidden gem! Lots of orchids, bromeliads, succulents - a tropical gardener's paradise. Funky old buildings with a bit of art thrown in. Hill views of the coast are pretty spectacular. Plenty of.... more »
A place to feel calming energy and the same time playful energy. We brought and left my friend's mature orchid that needed attention. We felt very comfortable with leaving the plants in Nancy healing hands. Plants are beautiful, healthy and very happy!!
I finally visited this place after hearing about it years ago and I'm so glad that I did! This is one of my favorite nurseries and the ladies that run this place are super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The plants are all healthy and lovingly tended to. You can also book this place as a wedding reception! They have a very large variety of different plants and plants that I have never seen before. There's also a little shop that sells an assortment of jewelry and pottery. I couldn't walk out of here without buying this gorgeous Monstera. It's a little tricky to get to so don't drive too fast or you'll miss the sign. There is a lot of parking once you get to the top of the hill and there is a hiking trail as well. I highly recommend checking out this place if you're in the area.
