Horseshoe Bend, Page

Horseshoe Bend is a natural wonder famous for its striking contrast of water against red rocks. Just as its name suggests, the bend is a horseshoe-shaped curve cut into the rocks by the Colorado River, located just 6 km (4 mi) southwest from the town of Page. You can take a raft or helicopter tour or hike to the bend over a fairly short but very steep and rugged trail, often made more difficult by excessive heat. If you do choose to walk across this challenging terrain, be sure to wear rubber-soled shoes, light clothing, sunglasses, and a hat. To avoid dehydration, drink lots of water and make frequent stops as you hike to the scenic overlook above the meandering river.
