San Juan Historical Museum, Pagosa Springs

A great museum with lots of curiosities, information, and local history. It needs more space for all the great collections they have. I would recommend coming before 3pm; we almost got locked in while looking around.

One of the best small town museums I have ever had the pleasure of visiting! Every small town has a museum, and I always like to make a quick stop to check of some of the local history. Sometimes they're good, and other times they may just have a few artifacts someone found in their backyard. But this museum is something else. The amount of history packed into their small space is just incredible. Most everything is displayed in an organized and thoughtful way that makes it easy to absorb lots of information in a small space. They were raising money to expand while we were there, and I happily made a donation. I can't wait to see their expansion! We'll definitely stop by again on our next visit.
