Create an itinerary including Hawaii Tropical Bioreserve and Garden
Enjoy greenery, cascading waterfalls, and views of the ocean at Hawaii Tropical Bioreserve and Garden. The garden's fertile, volcanic soil benefits the growth of more than 2,000 tropical species, including an extraordinary collection of palm trees and bromeliads. The garden also functions as a preservation center for tropical plants that have been jeopardized by rain forest destruction. The trek is easy and leisurely, thanks to boardwalks with benches on most trails. Parking is free, and the garden provides umbrellas if it's raining. Because the garden is in a natural valley where temperatures might get quite hot, it's a good idea to bring water and insect repellent. • There are free public trails next to the botanical gardens. Before we bought tickets, I wondered why we would pay to see the same jungle that could be seen on the public trails. I was wrong in a big way. I'm sure the public trails are great, but this botanical garden is worth every penny we paid to get in. The place is laid out beautifully. Great walkways. Everything is labeled. Every time you turn a corner, you enter a new experience, from the palm forest, to the fern circle, to spectacular views of the ocean and so on. Beware: the boardwalk at the entrance to the gardens can be a little slippery when wet. Just be a little careful and hang on to the guardrail. We have seen so many great things in Hawaii. The botanical gardens are near the top of the list for us!
  • It was 2 years ago that I visited. It cost $20.00 and I felt that it was worth every penny. A huge variety of plants, everything is labeled clearly. The walking pathways were beautifully laid out through the property. It was sufficiently large and interesting. So Good! I can't say enough good things about it. A Must See!!!
