Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, Patchogue

#2 of 10 in Things to do in Patchogue
Saved from the wrecking ball and lovingly restored it to its original grandeur in 1998, this beautiful facility is in use an average of 185 - 200 days a year, with about 130,000 coming through the doors.

The Patchogue Theatre first opened in 1923 as the largest theatre in Suffolk County. It still is, with almost 1200 seats. PTPA is an independent not for profit organization that leases the building from The Village of Patchogue and covers all of the operating costs without any subsidies from the Village. Our leadership is a volunteer board of directors with a professional staff and we are thriving thanks to hard work by dozens of volunteers, companies, funding agencies and individuals who support what we do by contributing their time or their money.

  • Beautiful theatre. I live in Patchogue and feel lucky we have the theatre here. I saw Beauty and the beast last night, it was great. Wish getting in to the theater was a bit more organized. The carolers were nice but people were watching them and blocking the doors to get in to the theater. Had no idea where the line was. Other than that everything was perfect.
  • Nice venue, but the crowd really left a lot to be desired. Nobody did anything when people at the back wouldn't shut up and ushers (who I understand were probably volunteers, but still) kept shining their flashlights all over the place. It was overall quite distracting. Also, because the doors open directly from the lobby into the theater, every time someone comes or goes, the whole back is lit up. I wish they would put up a barrier or something to block the light.
