  • Worth the 13 mile detour to Flagstaff from Phoenix. Kids and adults with interests in fossils will love it. Bring a flat head screwdriver for prying out the shells. You can also just sift through what others have dug out without needing any tools. Shoes recommended. Sandals will slip on hill side.
  • It's a fun experience. There's only small shells though. The best place to find shells is on the side of the hill to the right of the entrance.
