Dedicated to preserving the history of naval aviation, National Naval Aviation Museum displays more than 4,000 artifacts and 150 aircraft and spacecraft. In addition to the first aircraft to cross the Atlantic, the museum's collection includes other historical helicopters, biplanes, fighter planes, gliders, and space capsules. The museum also operates a flight academy, a six-day program meant to teach the youngest of aviation enthusiasts about the importance of science and math in aerospace careers. Pilot wannabes of all ages can ride the museum's flight simulators or watch IMAX films at the on-site theater. The museum gift shop sells aviation books, toys, caps, flags, patches, and posters. This is a must see museum! Lots of history and information, it opens your eyes to the life of those who have fought for our freedom. There are many different airplanes to see, simulators, movies, a gift shop and so much more. The facility is beautiful and we'll kept. This is a great family outing and good for all ages. We brought our 10 year old daughter and 20 year old niece, both enjoyed it and want to go back again.
We loved this museum. We had 4 kids with us ages 8, 10, 12, and 15 and we all enjoyed the museum. We were honestly kind of nervous to take time away from the beach to go to a museum but ended up so happy that we did. The history inside that building is incredible and so interesting. Be aware that every adult has to have identification to enter the property. Thank you for preserving history and to those who have donated their personal items to be included in this museum.
