"The Nation's Church" also known as Christ Church was the first Protestant Episcopal church in the U.S. This National Historic Landmark was founded in 1695, but the construction of this structure didn't begin until 1727. The church's steeple was built in 1754 and, at 60 m (197 ft) high, was actually the tallest building on the continent at the time. Take in the structure's famous colonial craftsmanship and 18th-century architecture. Step inside the church, which hosted 15 signers of the Declaration of Independence in its congregation, among other historical figures. • I stop by this church during my walk through the streets of South Phila. This church's is rich in history and if walls could talk what would they say. This place saw a lot of our history take place...
