My friend and I hiked/climbed to the summit, and we'd give it a big thumbs up! It was my friend's first hike to the summit and she felt it was exhilarating. I've summited three times previously, but.... more

This trail is rated difficult and well worth the climb even if you don't make it to the top. There are steep and rocky parts in the trail with different sections to pull your self up with cables. No shade so best done in the cooler months. Bring plenty of water and wear sturdy shoes. Amazing views of the surrounding area that are spectacular!

This is one of the two options to hike to the Picacho Peak. Sunset Trail is longer and easier when compared to Hunter Trail. Initially you will be going up the elevation and start going down with the help of cables that are placed. It's mostly downhill to the saddle point where the sunset trail meets the hunter trail and it's back up again to the peak. Be ready for some of the thrilling spots to climb up with the help of cables. The view at the top is worth going through all this adventures. Tips for hiking Hunter's Trail: 1. Carry at least 2-3L of water. 2. Wear shoes/boots with enough traction to help you out with a firm grip while climbing with the help of cables. 3. Pack a wind protector or a jacket. You will experience good amount of winds during the hike. 4. Best to carry a pair of gloves to give you grip to hold the cables. 5. Last but not the least pick up after you.!!!
