Dollywood sits in the verdant foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Owned by country singer Dolly Parton, the venue offers standard amusement park thrill rides, as well as attractions with traditional crafts and music of this region. The park frequently features musical events, with regular appearances by Dolly herself. You can choose from ten themed areas packed with roller coasters, rafting rides, craft exhibits, carousels, water-toboggan rides, and live shows. The park's signature attraction is a narrow-gauge train pulled by two steam locomotives. Try to plan for a stop at the museum dedicated to gospel music. It has an interactive video and sound clips, plus thousands of items belonging to the genre's biggest names. Even on a rainy day this place was wonderful and magical. The team system at parking is quick and efficient. The narrow trails people mention aren’t too bad and traversing the park overall felt pretty smooth. Extremely family friendly and some awesome locations for Dolly Fans like Chasing Rainbows. The employees all seemed pretty happy to be working there which made me feel good about being there too. Granny’s has some bomb food and is authentic to the South. The service there was also amazing and our waitress was incredibly kind honestly everyone there was. Grist Mill was great to visit and get some awesome cinnamon bread. The Dollywood Express is a bit tricky to catch because it’s timed but I would recommend trying to do it it was fun and neat especially considering it’s a legit coal fueled train and feels like a genuine experience. Overall this park stands out as being homey and nowhere near as commercialized as others like Universal. I don’t mind that commercialized feel but this park stands out because of its lack of it. I didn’t feel rushed or pushed and pulled. It was just a fun experience and relaxing day.
You can’t go wrong by coming here! I’ve been to many theme parks, and this one is def one of the best ones w very unique touch by Dolly. The flower and food festival made everything super busy, but really beautiful decorations. I didn’t really know what to expect and planned a little bit beforehand. Loved the eagle foundation support and show. Dolly is truly an angel! I rode a couple thrill rides, the Dollywood express, some kid rides. You can get away with not waiting if you plan strategically. There are so many things to do for people of all ages. Really wholesome experience and even church service on a Sunday. Workers always there to help out with directions and plenty of food and rest spots throughout the park. Worth every penny! There is only happiness here.
