Dollywood sits in the verdant foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Owned by country singer Dolly Parton, the venue offers standard amusement park thrill rides, as well as attractions with traditional crafts and music of this region. The park frequently features musical events, with regular appearances by Dolly herself. You can choose from ten themed areas packed with roller coasters, rafting rides, craft exhibits, carousels, water-toboggan rides, and live shows. The park's signature attraction is a narrow-gauge train pulled by two steam locomotives. Try to plan for a stop at the museum dedicated to gospel music. It has an interactive video and sound clips, plus thousands of items belonging to the genre's biggest names. Christmas lights are amazing! Riding wild eagle at night over all those beautiful lights is so cool. We watched the smokies Christmas show and it was nice. I didn't care for the smoke near the end...too much and made me cough. Nice family tradition trip.
What a fun park to visit! I went when I was a child a few times, and thought it would be a fun experience for my kid. They have really stepped up their game with rides! In our experience, do the Lighting Rod first! it usually runs into delays or issues later in the day, so ride as soon as you are able! The Mine car ride, Eagle, Tornado, Barn Stormer, all amazing rides for thrill seekers! They have a new area for younger kids too! The park overall is amazingly clean, open, family friendly, and easy to navigate. Ride waits are no where near "other" theme parks- we were able to get on withing 20 minutes in the fall and spring. We were able to do a glass blowing project in the morning, and was done and ready to go by the afternoon. They also have several shows, museums, and sites to visit and take a break. Food options are a plenty, from sit down, to fast food to snacks. Bathrooms are also very easy to locate. Definitely a place we will be returning to!
