  • My husband and I camped here for two nights over Labor Day weekend right before the summertime snow arrived. All sites are walk-in only, with some being a significant haul from the main parking lot...  more »
  • Our family loved our first visit to Staunton. We took the 2.3 mile hike to Davis Pond with a 2 year old. Even though the pond had quite a few hikers, the trail seemed quiet and absolutely stunning...  more »

  • Staunton state park is wonderful. It is very well-kept. The staff and volunteers are amazing. I took 2 of my clients there on a Monday to use the track chairs (they are unable to walk and use wheelchairs). The volunteers were super helpful and guided the chairs around for them. They took them fishing and even had an awesome adaptive fishing pole! I only had one issue - the chipmunks in the pavilion by the fishing ponds were very aggressive about getting food. They even climbed onto the track chairs and one time up the leg of one of my clients! It would be great to have some signage up saying not to feed them. Clearly they are used to people feeding and even touching or handling them. I know they can carry diseases and many individuals who use track chairs may have poor immune systems as well. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time.
  • This was a great hike. We did a little over 8 miles with a combination of loops. The places wasn't too crowded, especially the farther out you got. There were three incredible overlooks on the route we took. The park is so large you could return several times and get a completely different hike or ride. The park is horse, bike, and hike friendly and dogs are allowed if leashed. It cost $8 to get in and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The visitor center was large and very well kept with immaculate bathrooms. We will be returning for sure!
