#1 of 7 in Things to do in Pine Mountain
Created to protect native azalea species, Callaway Resort & Gardens has grown to include the world's largest man-made, white sand beach. An indoor conservatory protects its fluttering occupants in the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center. Azaleas thrive in the gardens and grow around memorials. Every summer the beach comes to life with the Florida State University Flying High Circus, which holds activities and shows with the lake as a backdrop. • I was recently able to stay in Callaway Gardens with a few friends of mine, to celebrate some quality work done over our previous semester in college! The location was absolutely stunning! Although we dedicated a lot of time to sleeping, we managed to make time to walk around the Gardens, and even spent a few hours riding bikes one day! The Gardens are beautiful, and there are so many things to see! The Butterfly Center, a breathtaking chapel, and plenty of wildlife! It is truly a fantasy location! If you and your friends/family are looking for a quiet weekend away with a nice combination of comfort and nature, you would be very happy in Callaway!
  • Amazing! Lights were phenomenal and we got to have hand made donuts and pretzels after words. It was an awesome experience. First time there and definitely will be back. We were a little late to the Christmas Village so didn't get to go in. Definitely next time on that one. Maybe extended hours on the weekends? :)
