The historic Market Square is located at the intersection of Market and Forbes Avenue. Pittsburghers young and old are familiar with Market Square Downtown. Whether once a regular shopper at G.C. Murphy’s five and dime store (now home to Downtown's PNC YMCA), a businessman who enjoys lunch at the Oyster House, or a child who has eagerly awaited the arrival of Santa on Light Up Night®, almost everyone has heard of the historic Square or visited it at least once, if not several times.By using our Pittsburgh online tour builder , you can arrange your visit to Market Square and other attractions in Pittsburgh.
Head down to the Square before or after a show in Downtown's vibrant Cultural District and enjoy dinner and cocktails. Indulge in a little retail therapy, meet friends and co-workers for lunch meetings or to browse the summer Farmers Market, spend your happy hour at one of the many watering holes, or grab a coffee, relax and take advantage of the free Wifi. Or, come in the evening to see the tribute to Pittsburgh’s antislavery activities in the lighting feature in the ground and look up to see the North Star and dippers in the sky. So what are you waiting for—GET INTO THE SQUARE!

Parking will always be a problem the Oyster House has lost some of its charm I remember coming there with my father I did the same for my son but that was two years ago but the atmosphere of the Oyster House has changed the priority it's no longer on a simple and quick fish sandwich now there are so many the sizes and the cost is high for the value that is received one of the most appealing parts of the Oyster House was that you could receive a good meal that is consistent and quick at a value as for the Market Square itself parking is a problem La Gondola is still there and serge is still running it the food that long gondola has always been very good no other reason for me to go to Market Square
Wow. Was a positive experience.. the stores were great and friendly.. The atmosphere was working class people mixed with some homeless individuals looking for a smoke... By dark time we were in our motel.. not sure what happens later..
