Glacier Ridge Metro Park, Plain City

3.5
#53 of 67 in Trails in Ohio
Glacier Ridge was named for the end moraine or glacial debris left behind when the glaciers retreated some 12,000 to 17,000 years ago. Much of the 1,037-acre park was once covered with farmland. Visitors can traverse a boardwalk through the Honda Wetlands Area or climb a 25-foot observation tower to see waterfowl and other animals. Walk, jog or bike the paved 3 mile Marshhawk trail, or the paved 2.5 mile Ironweed trail (not a loop so out and back is 5 miles). Bring your disc and play the 18 hole disc golf course. There is a playground for the kids, along with picnic tables, grills and a first come first serve picnic shelter. Entrance to the park is free, in thanks to the tax levy supported by Franklin County voters.

  • We have been to 13 of the Metro parks in the Columbus area and this is by far one of our favorites. The offer a variety of trails that are open for different uses. The playground area is clean and safe, and on top of that there is a challenge course which the kids loved! It really encourages functional exercise even for our little ones which is important.
  • We go here all the time! The bathrooms are wonderful they have a great all purpose trail! (Great for moms with strollers, The rangers here are amazing shout out to Sarah! We bike here, hike here, meet up with family at the shelter and playground they also have an amazing obstacle course! My favorite park by far for what they offer it's wonderful. Highly suggest checking out there programs as well there so much to do here for kids and adults. πŸš΄πŸ€ΈπŸƒ
