The house is owned and operated as a house museum by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
In celebration of the 2018 Illinois Bicentennial, the Farnsworth House was selected as one of the Illinois 200 great places by the American Institute of Architects Illinois component (AIA Illinois) and was recognized by USA Today Travel magazine, as one of AIA Illinois' selections for Illinois "25 Must See Buildings".

Excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable. Our small group of eight were able to learn a great deal about Edith Farnsworth and Mies Van Der Rohe, and the history of the amazing glass box home.

Absolutely breathtaking piece of architectural history. Worth booking the guided tour ahead of the visit as they sell out on weekend days. The guided tour is $25 per person and takes you inside the home, or you can buy entry to the ground for $10 and walk around the house on the outside. Our guide, John P. was absolutely fantastic - a well of knowledge about the home and the history of it, and his love and passion for Farnsworth House was not only captivating but infectious. The grounds are beautiful as well, great for a riverside walk on a lovely sunny day.
