Poipu Beach Park, Koloa

Must see · Beach · Park
Part of South Shore's popular beach, Poipu Beach Park is a good location for relaxing or partaking in beach activities. Go for a walk along the sand, or take a dip in the clear water. Snorkelers can spot sea turtles and colorful fish. Explore tide pools, and admire the collection of coral and shells. Keep an eye out for the monk seals that like to visit the beach. This area can experience strong tides that could make it dangerous to swim, so heed the lifeguards. Surfers and boogie boarders will find an area just for them. • Can be a bit crowded but very nice sand beach. Bathrooms are awful. Was able to see Monk Seals on the beach!  more »

  • A wonderful beach and park! Turtles are regular visitors along with the occasional Hawaiian Monk Seal. The water is calm enough for kiddos, while the other side of the breakers is good for surfing. There is also Nukumoi Point, which is a little peninsula that turns into an island you can swim/snorkel out to about 100 feet off shore. Turtles hang out here also, which is cool as you are away from people. Lifeguards are on duty seven days a week.
  • Great local family park attached to Poipu Beach. There is a nice playground structure for the little ones with a 180 degree panoramic view of Poipu Beach. There are picnic tables scattered around the park with great views with outdoor grills. Some are under trees (shade!). There are also individual covered pavilions (with picnic tables) to protect you from the rain/wind. They can be rented out for parties and weddings (saw a wedding ceremony happening in one of them). Park is flat and full of palm trees, grass. There are paved walkways for wheel chairs, walkers, and strollers. Both locals and tourists (on Poipu Beach) are there. Free parking lot is across the street.
