Part of South Shore's popular beach, Poipu Beach Park is a good location for relaxing or partaking in beach activities. Go for a walk along the sand, or take a dip in the clear water. Snorkelers can spot sea turtles and colorful fish. Explore tide pools, and admire the collection of coral and shells. Keep an eye out for the monk seals that like to visit the beach. This area can experience strong tides that could make it dangerous to swim, so heed the lifeguards. Surfers and boogie boarders will find an area just for them. Poipu Beach is a great place for snorkeling, etc. Also my wife and I like to go there every time we’re in Kauai to enjoy the sunsets, and this time we went just in time to watch the sea turtles come..... more

Was a very nice little beach. I really enjoyed the sunset while I was there. The chickens were also very entertaining and rambunctious. As with any ocean venue, use caution and pay attention to all of the warnings posted for your safety. This area has strong currents and is openly posted. Come prepared and informed of all conditions. Sunscreen should also be mentioned and used.

Beautiful beach for sunset. Waves are calm to see turtles and seals at sunset Calm enough durning the day to snorkel. Nice variety of fish to see but reef is quite grey. Bring a beach chair and umbrella. Some days you can find people placing volleyball. Nice eateries close and free parking lot available.
