Peninsula Park is a public park in the Piedmont neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. The 16.27acre park is located in the North Portland neighborhood and contains a outdoor swimming pool, community center, baseball fields, playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, covered picnic areas, a historic gazebo and other amenities. In 2007, area residents started to propose a piece of public art be added to the park honoring Rosa Parks, as the park lies along Rosa Parks Way.Rose gardenPeninsula Park became the city's first public rose garden in 1909 when it was purchased for $60,000 with funds raised in a 1908 bond measure. Designed by Emanuel L. Mische, the two-acre garden contains 5,700 roses featuring 75 varieties. The official rose of Portland, named Mme. Caroline Testout, was cultivated at Peninsula Park. In 1913, the park was chosen as the location for an annual rose show, where it remained until Washington Park was selected as the location of the International Rose Test Garden in 1917.

  • This is a great place to spend time outdoors! Huge magnificent trees, a nice playground and activities in the recreation center are just part of the offerings. Add in a very pretty rose garden and.....  more »
  • Enjoy the roses and the architecture from early 20th century. Also has two baseball fields and basketball courts. Swings, etc and summertime water play for the little ones.  more »
  • Peninsula Park has something for everyone. The little kids can play at the easy playground and splash pad. Medium size kids can enjoy the bigger playground and various sport courts. The adults can enjoy the rose garden. The community center is there if you want to go swimming. This is a great park. They also have free lunch for kids in the summer. 5 stars
  • Park has gotten better and cleaner. Nice for walking, for just a day with family. Convenient for small birthday party or gathering. Perfect for pictures / special events. Love the update on community center/ pool area is very nice and a lot better. Water feature has gotten clean and stays pretty clean. Nice overall
