Housed in a former Masonic Temple, Portland Art Museum holds a permanent collection of more than 42,000 works of art from around the world. This museum was founded in 1892 with the goal of creating a first-class art museum accessible to all of the community. Now, the museum continues to honor this mission, offering educational opportunities and special programs for children and adults. Explore the permanent collection, which includes European, Native American, Asian, American, and modern and contemporary art, as well as photography and graphic arts. After admiring the artwork, head to the on-site coffee shop to refuel or enjoy the scenery in the outdoor sculpture garden. Check the website for information about upcoming exhibits and events, such as artist talks, special tours, and lectures. Portland Art Museum is a nice museum houses good collection of works related to American Art, European Art, Chinese Art, and sculptures from Asia, China. The Art works displayed are very beautiful. The paintings of last decades/centuries are superb. Native American Art is also very beautiful. Museum Store has collection of Arts and Crafts. One can buy collectors items as a memory of the visit to museum. Overall a very good experience.

We went shortly after it opened and it wasn't too busy for a weekday. Lots of different styles and tastes to view. So much history and beauty to behold. Definitely a place to check out as their exhibits change every so often.
