  • While visiting the national park, we took a day to explore this state park. Talk about remote! We never saw a ranger, an entry gate, and barely another person. We think we encountered 3 people...

  • We drove through Big Bend Ranch State Park on paved Hwy 170 all the way from Terlingua to Presidio. This is a drive with incredible scenery. We ate our lunch at a delightful picnic stop with tipis.....  more

  • It was a beautiful, expressive trip as usual. The state park seems wilder than the national and more open to bringing your own unique experience of the wilderness to the fore. Our campsite was by the river and there were a couple of hiking sites we made it to in less than an hour that provided us with some good exertion. I would not choose a campsite so close to a main road next time, but the traffic died down around midnight and didn’t really become obtrusive again until daylight.
  • Went in a group horseback trip for my second time. Highly recommend. Not the national park but super grateful that the state pulled this extra land for future generations. Lajitas is fun too! Clay Henry and the grocery store are fun too.
