The American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT) is a local land trust in Calvert Co., Maryland, an hour's drive from both D.C. and Baltimore. 22 miles of free trails, guided canoe/kayak trips up the beautiful creek, and lots of events and activities celebrating this beautiful region and the Chesapeake Bay. Dedicated to caring for the land, ACLT also manages a small farm, educational garden and food forest all focused on regenerative and perma-culture growing. Thousands of lbs of naturally grown produce is donated to a local food pantry annually. So many ways to get involved with caring for the land and sharing it with the community!   • ACLT is a great organization with an amazing mission. The hiking trails are very well maintained by a staff of loyal volunteers. The community events: 5k, triathlon, the annual Sip & Save to name a few.
