Running Hare Vineyard, Prince Frederick

#5 of 32 in Things to do in Calvert County
Winery / Vineyard · Food & Drink
During harvest of 2007, the decision was made to turn this 291 acre private farm owned by Mike Scarborough into a commercial winery.

Since then, Running Hare Vineyard has produced numerous award-winning wines, including three international gold medals.

Running Hare Vineyard continues to make major changes to the landscape of the vineyard. There is a covered tasting pavilion located outside in the vineyard where guests can enjoy wine tastings. In addition to wine tastings, there is their sister company Calvert Brewing Company where guests can also enjoy craft beer in the beer garden.

The vineyard is also an amazing venue to host a wedding or special event!

In 2010, a Tuscan - styled events villa was built overlooking the entire vineyard. This building is available for rent year round to host your wedding or special occasion!

  • A group of us met after work and enjoyed the wine, the beer flights, the cocktail flight special, and the yummy wine slushees. I would suggest bringing bottled water as they don’t sell it on site...  more »
  • Awesome venue. We enjoyed perfect weather and a nice couple of hours. The wines are good. The staff is friendly and informative. The brewery staff is a little stiff but guess that is just beer drinkers. It got busy quick I think this is a hidden treasure that a lot of folks have found out about. I am glad I was one of them.
  • Spent a picture perfect afternoon here tasting wines and listening to live music. Definitely dog friendly and couldn’t be more picturesque. The woman who served us the tasting was friendly and very knowledgeable about the winery and the wines. The Groupon made it quite affordable, but as there is spotty cell service there, it’s better to take a screenshot of the Groupon than trying to pull it up on your phone while you’re paying. Only negative was that you couldn’t take a flight of beer out of the little area where beer sales were.
