  • Stone is mother nature's buitafull work, and they have plenty of examples. Took in the establishment a few decades ago when it was still cutting stone and you could watch from a birdsnest vew. Now it is mainly a Museum and gift shop. Must see, check captions on the photos. In fact the entire town proper looks like it is all made of marble. Proctor is a nice quiet place, up the hill is another Church. And across town used to be an art school, maybe it's still there, IDK. Next to the Museum is a current Stone Cutter, Mr. Johnson can usually do anything you want or need. If he could not provide the product needed, he'll know who can. Mr. P. Says take in the area and you could be amazed on what's left. 👍😯😀😁😎😎😎
  • We had a fantastic time at the marble museum. I took my family of 9 here for the museum tour (7 kids under 12 y/o) and they all got something out of it. I think our kids were the only ones there at that time and the staff was so nice. The kids did a scavenger hunt to learn about marble mining and the museum. The resident sculptor took a few minutes from his project to show us how he carves and the process of turning a stone into a beautiful art piece. My wife got some great ideas for our future kitchen and bathroom from the one area. The kids enjoyed complimentary popcorn and at the end of the tour they all got a polished marble egg for completing their scavenger hunt. Vermont marble is a cornerstone of this country and it was fantastic to have my kids learn about it.
