Rogue River Gorge Viewpoint, Prospect

This makes for the perfect stopping point on the way to or from Crater Lake National Park. Our kids liked this even more than Crater Lake and it would be worth it's own trip! It offers a great complement to tranquil lake and provides an amazing look at the turbulent reality that is the volcanic forces at work in the area. With a super easy "trail" you will not regret the views (and sounds) of the power Rogue River continuing to shape the landscape as it winds through and carves its path through the lava flows.

This is such a lovely spot with very unusual geology. We were driving through the area coming back to California and saw the river and needed to stop. There is a short trail with a few different viewpoints and signs explaining the geologic formations. The river at the end of June was falling quite quickly and offered many beautiful pictures.
